Effect of an Al2O3-based binder on the structure of extruded Fe-ZSM-5

The effect of an alumina-based binder on the structure a commercial Fe-ZSM-5 catalyst has been investigated. Several ex-situ characterization techniques were used to show that in formulation allows obtaining material possesses improved features terms Fe species dispersion, framework Al content and acidity. UV–Vis X-ray absorption spectroscopy showed extent agglomeration extruded was significantly lower compared without binder. 27Al 29Si-MAS NMR demonstrated remarkable difference migration. NH3-TPD experiments corroborated results suggesting retention Brønsted acidity catalyst. We tentatively propose by providing extra-framework prior treatment at elevated temperature, hinders dislodgment during calcination.
